This study aimed to investigate the impact of the participatory video on the development of the Arabic speaking skills of 9th-grade students. It also aimed to identify students’ attitudes towards the participatory video as an instructional tool. A total of 136 male and female students participated in the study who were selected by using the convenience sampling method from two governmental schools in Amman, Jordan. Then, the students were distributed randomly into a control group taught by the conventional method of teaching and an experimental group taught by the participatory video. A speaking test was developed to measure students’ performance in the Arabic speaking skills and a questionnaire was developed to identify their attitudes. The study revealed that there were significant differences in the performance of Arabic speaking skills between the two groups in favor of the participatory video group. Results also showed that students demonstrated a positive attitude towards the use of the participatory video as an instructional tool to improve their speaking skills. (Published abstract)
