استهدفت الدراسة الكشف عن القيم الحرجة من معاملات الارتباط بين متغيرين كميين تتابعيين التي يمكن أن تظهر دلالة لبعض الاختبارات الإحصائية التي تستخدم في دراسات تحليل الفروق وبصفة خاصة الدراسات العلية المقارنة، وهي الدراسات التي تعتمد على مستويات أحد متغيري الارتباط في تصنيف مجموعات المقارنة كمتغير مستقل والمتغير الآخر المستهدف من المقارنة كمتغير تابع، كما استهدفت الدراسة أيضا الكشف عن القيم الحرجة من معاملات الارتباط التي تظهر دلالة الاختبارات الإحصائية المستخدمة في دراسات التنبؤ من حيث اعتمادها على أحد متغيري الارتباط كمتغير تابع متنبأ به، والمتغير الآخر كمتغير مستقل منبئ، وقد اعتمدت الدراسة في الإجراءات الخاصة بها على عينة مكونة من (٥٠٠) طالب من طلاب البكالوريوس بقسم علم النفس وهم الطلاب الدراسين لمقرر إحصاء-٢ (252 نفس)، للأعوام (1427-1434) ه، وقد اعتمدت الدراسة في إجراءاتها على جمع البيانات الخاصة بالمعدل التراكمي لأفراد العينة (كمتغير مستقل) ودرجاتهم الحاصلون عليها الاختبارات النهائية للمقرر الإحصائي (كمتغير تابع) من السجلات الإلكترونية التي تم الحصول عليها من عمادة القبول والتسجيل بجامعة الملك سعود، وقد اعتمدت الدراسة في تحليلاتها الإحصائية على معامل الارتباط لبيرسون من ناحية، واختبار (ت) لعينتين مستقلتين واختبار تحليل التباين أحادي الاتجاه، واختبار مربع كاي وهي أساليب إحصائية تستخدم في دراسات تحليل الفروق، وكذلك اختبار تحليل الانحدار الخطي البسيط كأسلوب إحصائي يستخدم في دراسات التنبؤ، وقد انتهت الدراسة إلى تعيين قيم حرجة لمعاملات الارتباط يمكن الاعتماد عليها في الكشف عن دلالة الاختبارات الإحصائية المستخدمة في دراسات تحليل الفروق والتنبؤ عند كل من مستوي الدلالة ( 0.05) ، (0.01)، بما يتيح إمكانية الاعتماد على هذه القيم الحرجة في اتخاذ الباحث لقراره باستكمال استخدامه لهذه الاختبارات الإحصائية في معالجاته لبيانات دراسته أو التوقف عن استخدامها، وذلك بمقارنة هذه القيم بقيم معاملات الارتباط الخاصة بمتغيراته البحثية التي تعتمد عليها تلك الاختبارات الإحصائية بما قد يوفر وقته وجهده.
